Shey Phoksundo National Park:

The name has been derived from two words Shey Gumba and Phoksundo Lake. Initially it was operating as Shey Phoksundo wildlife reserve. It is the largest National Park of the kingdom, which is the second largest wildlife reserve in Nepal. The park is spread over parts of Dolpa and Mugu district. The part covers an area of 3555 sqkm. The Park is famous for snow leopard. The country of rolling hills and cysmic Activities free are one of the specialties of Dolpa. It is open till National Park Rigmo Lake for foreigner. As a culture one third of the people in this area believed in pre-Buddhist culture (Bon po Religion). Here the village situated in the higher part of the country which is Shey village at the altitude of 4480 m.

Main attraction in side the National Park:

(Kangirowa Mountain, Shey-Monastry, Rigmo Lake, Suligad Falls etc.)
The interesting fact about Phoksundo Lake is that we can’t find any birds or fish around the lake.

Flora and Fauna :
Spruce, Cypress, Poplar, Brich, juniper etc 14 types of Plant are also found in Dolpa which are not available in the rest of the world
Fauna :
Animals like snow leopard, blue ship, Ghoral, Himalayan tahr, wolf, Jackle, Himalayan Mouse hare, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan weasel, Yellow throated marten, Langur and rhesus monkeys etc can be found here in Dolpa.
Birds :
Impeyan Pheasant, red and yellow-billed choughs, Snow partridge, Munal etc are found in this area. 200 types of Birds are found in this area of which 38 are internationally important. The rare species like white-throated tit, wood snipe are also found in the National Park. Highest-flying Papilio at about 4540 m are also available in this area and the Butterfly named Nepa’Argus is the only butterfly that is found in Dolpa.
